Malnutrition and inflammation are main causes of CV mortality in HD patients 1. Previous studies have shown that HFR is associated with reduction of inflammatory markers, such as CRP and IL-6 2, decrement of oxidative stress 3 and a sparing effect on amino acids 4.This study evaluated in a prospective cohort of HD patients, affected by overt chronic inflammation and under-nutrition, whether the switch from standard HD to HFR improves nutritional and inflammatory status.
