Increased phosphorus, but not calcium concentrations, are associated with an increased risk for the start of dialysis within two years of pre-dialysis care. Furthermore, increased phosphorus, but not calcium concentrations, are associated with a faster decline of kidney function within the first year of pre-dialysis care.
